Coach Biographies
Kevin Trost - Varsity Head Coach
Kevin Trost is entering his fifth year as the Seneca Valley boys’ varsity head basketball coach. This season will be his 12th year as a head coach and 23rd year coaching high school basketball. Prior to Seneca Valley he was a varsity assistant coach at North Hills High School for 11 years. In addition to that he was the head coach at Carlynton High School for two years and Bishop Canevin High School for four years.
While at Bishop Canevin, coach Trost had one of the most successful stints in school history. His teams won two section championships in his four years. Prior to his arrival there was one only one section title in school history. Twice his teams reached the WPIAL semi-finals and once made it to the state semi-finals. The state semi-final berth was the furthest a Bishop Canevin boy’s basketball team had ever advanced in the state tournament.
Coach Trost is a graduate of North Allegheny High School. He later continued his education and basketball career at Juniata College. He resides in Moon Twp. with his wife Jill and two daughters, Madylin and Macy.

Joe Frank - Varsity Assistant & JV Head Coach
Joe Frank is entering his fifth year as the Seneca Valley boy’s junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant. Previously, Joe was the head junior varsity boys’ basketball coach and varsity assistant at Hopewell and a varsity assistant at Pine-Richland. Joe also served as the Pine-Richland girls’ varsity head coach. Overall, Joe has coached basketball for 22 years. He is married to Kelly and has three children, Michael, Ryan, and Natalie.

Gary Brooks - Varsity & JV Assistant Coach
Gary Brooks is in his 3rd year as a assistant coach at Seneca Valley and has been coaching basketball for 15 years. He started coaching with the Seneca Valley Youth Basketball teams. He also coached AAU for various teams throughout those years. He recently was an assistant coach for the Vincentian Academy Royals for 4 years where he helped lead his team to winning three WPIAL championships. They also made it to the state finals. Gary is a certified PIAA basketball official.
Gary is married to Mary and has three sons, Cole, Jake, and Mike.
Gary Brooks is in his 3rd year as a assistant coach at Seneca Valley and has been coaching basketball for 15 years. He started coaching with the Seneca Valley Youth Basketball teams. Justin McCauley - Freshmen Head Coach
Justin McCauley is a 2011 graduate of Seneca Valley where he played multiple varsity sports. Justin returned to SV to help out the basketball program following his graduation at Ohio University in 2015. This is Justin's second year as the Junior High coach after 3 years as a varsity/jv assistant coach. Justin is excited to be at Seneca Valley to help the program continue to grow and find success.
